Hello Third Grade families! Happy to report many compliments from the community on the Halloween Poetry display at The Country Diner. A job well done! It's down now and the students were given their writings to take home. We are well into November and progressing academically and socially with many activities. We worked with 4th and 5th grade to complete various lessons/crafts for Dia de los Muertos (All Souls Day) and we gathered together to understand the meaning and cultural relevance of this holiday celebrated in Mexico and other Hispanic areas.
Spelling: The list this week is back to 20 words...content words with -spl -thr -squ -str/ splash throw three square throat strike street split splurge thrill strength squeak throne strawberry squeeze Challenge words are: squid squander arthritis instrument strategy We will be working with these words in a variety of written/oral activities in class and for homework.
Reading: Genre: animal fantasy"Tops & Bottoms" This is a delightful story adapted by Janet Stevens. It delivers a wonderful message, and the illustrations are beautifully done. Students are practicing their names in cursive. We are at first names right now and will add last names next week. Along with the cursive writing handbook, I encourage them to practice with their letters at home.

Moby Max is to be done at least twice per week for about 15/20 minutes each session. More time, the better! 3rd.Grade's focus is Math...Moby Max is a tech support that can assist in their Math progress. Double digit multiplication will be introduced this week.
Reminder: students are to wear their gym clothes on Monday and Tuesday this week. We participate with the Enfield Fire Dept. in fire prevention education and this week they need to wear gym clothing. Of course, Tuesday is their regular gym day.
**No school on Friday, November 10 in observance of Veteran's Day ** We salute the many wonderful men and women who have given their lives to protect ours...to all those that have served our country!
