We’re off to a great start this week in the Land of Oz!
Just a reminder that tomorrow, November 6, is pizza lunch. If your child has preordered pizza lunch, please make sure to send them in with a drink. Pizza, chips, and a cookie will be provided for the lunch.
Also, all Knights of Columbus tree decorating permission slips and money is due by Wednesday, November 7. If a student is not attending the field trip then a note stating that must be turned in Wednesday, November 7, so a final number of students can be given to Knights of Columbus.
Here is what we will be learning this week.
Math-On Tuesday, November 6, the third graders will have an assessment on the multiplication facts for the 0s-5s. Then the students will practice the 6 multiplication facts for the rest of the week.
The fourth graders will have a test on Tuesday, November 6, on multiplying two digit by one digit numbers. Then they will multiplying three and four digit numbers by one digit.
Spelling- There will be a spelling test on Friday, November 9.
Grade 3-splash, throw, three, square, throat, strike, street, split, splurge, thrill, strength, squeak, throne, strawberry, squeeze, squid, squander, arthritis, instrument, strategy
Grade 4-Thanksgiving, among, think, blank, graph, young, wheel, nephew, belong, whiskers, whispers, elephant, white, shrink, wharf, trunk, strong, blink, chunk, skunk, strengthen, bankrupt, phantom, whimsical, whatever
Social Studies- The students are going to have a map vocabulary test on Tuesday, November 6. Then we will continue our study of Geography understanding our location in the world (city, state, region, country, continent). There will be a quiz on this information on Friday, November 9.
Grade 4 Fire Prevention Posters are due on Thursday, November 8. The students have had some class time to work on their posters, but any unfinished posters will go home Wednesday night and are due first thing Thursday morning.
Religion- This week the students will discuss the Old and New Testament of the Bible. They will also read and discuss the Gospel for this Sunday.
Language Arts- The students have been working very hard on a written retelling of Janell Cannon’s Stellaluna. In these written pieces, the students are including a variety of sentence structures and using rich adjectives to add detail to our writing.
