Thank you for returning all the Catholic Schools Week permission slip forms! We are already looking forward to Catholic Schools Week- January 28- February 1. In the next couple of weeks the students will have the opportunity to sign up for additional Minute to Win It games. Please make sure that the students are starting to prepare their attire for Catholic Schools Week. I have posted it below so you can start planning.

Monday- Grade ¾ wears GREEN with athletic bottoms and sneakers.

Tuesday- Dress like a “Glow Stick”. Wear neon colors.

Wednesday-Wear your favorite sports attire.

Thursday- Dress in pajamas. Make sure to wear sneakers and bring slippers to school if you want to change.

Friday- School uniform is to be worn. This is a MASS DAY! NO DRESS DOWN PASSES!

Here is what we will be learning this week in the Land of Oz.

3rd Math- The students will be practicing addition of money, column addition, and subtraction of larger numbers. There will be a quiz on addition on Thursday, January 17.

4th Math- The students will be practicing subtraction of larger numbers and subtraction across zeroes. The students will have a quiz on these topics on Thursday, January 17

Spelling- There will be a spelling test on Friday, January 18.

3rd- thumb, gnaw, written, know, climb, design, wrist, crumb, assign, wrench, knot, wrinkle, lamb, knob, knit, wrestler, bologna, cologne, honeycomb, knickknack

4th- its, ours, mine, yours, family’s, families’, man’s, men’s, girl’s, girls’, hers, theirs, brother’s, brothers’, teacher’s, teachers’, aunt’s, aunts’, boy’s, boys’, country’s, countries’, witness’s, witnesses’, laboratory’s, laboratories’

Science- The students will be learning about the three states of matter- solid, liquid, and gas. They will have a quiz on this material on Friday, January 18.

Social Studies- The intermediate grades are studying the North Pole and the South Pole. They are learning about the climate and animals in these areas.

Religion- This week the students will discuss God’s gifts. We will also read and discuss the Gospel for this Sunday.

Language Arts- The students are continuing their literature unit on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Just a reminder that the students should be studying their vocabulary words, as there are vocabulary quizzes throughout the novel. The next quiz will be the day after we read and answer questions for Chapter 10.
